4 December 2021

December 9 was designated as International Anti-Corruption Day through the signing of the United Nations Convention against Anti-Corruption by the United Nations General Assembly on October 31, 2003, under Resolution 58/4.

In 2012, the Republic of Myanmar officially ratified the Convention on December 12, thereby becoming a member state of the Convention. Like other member countries of the Convention, Myanmar celebrates International Anti-Corruption Day each year.

The 18th International Anti-Corruption Day took place on December 9, 2021, at the joint hall of Office No. (56) in the Anti-Corruption Commission office located in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was conducted virtually and commenced at 10:00 in the morning.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the heads of Union-level organizations, Union Ministers, the Auditor General of the Union, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and Chief Ministers of Regions/States. It has been informed that the Chairman of the UMFCCI will also be present for the virtual meeting.
