U Aung Kyi, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar, and U Moe Naing, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission Office, attended the 18th International Anti-Corruption Conference which was held from October 22 to 24, and the fourth meeting of the International Anti-Corruption Alliance, which took place from October 25 to 26 in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2018.
The 18th International Anti-Corruption Conference was attended by over 1,800 representatives from government organizations related to the anti-corruption industry from 144 countries, as well as social organizations, multi-sectoral cooperation organizations, and the media.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the fourth meeting of the International Anti-Corruption Alliance, which was attended by approximately 200 international anti-corruption activists, including representatives from the World Bank and the International Anti-Corruption Alliance.
By attending these conferences and meetings, we can study and learn about the anti-corruption measures implemented by various countries around the world. We can also familiarize ourselves with their attitudes and procedures, allowing us to apply relevant information to our anti-corruption work in Myanmar. Additionally, participating in these events provides opportunities to meet and exchange opinions with officials from other anti-corruption organizations, such as the International Organization for Transparency, which publishes the anti-corruption index. We can also engage with officials from Myanmar's development partners, including the World Bank and Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to inform them about the activities of our Commission. It is believed that Myanmar's anti-corruption efforts will receive increased international aid, and consequently, the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) is expected to improve compared to previous years.
