Construction ex-deputy minister U Kyaw Lin, ex-directors-general U Aung Myint Oo, U Ye Min Zaw, U Nay Aung Ye Myint receive sentences under Anti-Corruption Law

            Anti-Corruption Commission inspected the complaints against the ex-deputy minister U Kyaw Lin. According to inspections, U Kyaw Lin allowed ex-DG of the Highways Department U Aung Myint Oo to spend more than K562 million fund of maintenance without any exact budget data in repairing from the Monywa-Yargyi-Kalewa Road milepost (85/0) to Kyabin Village without following the Myanmar regulations on financial management issued by the Ministry of Planning and Finance Notification No 35/2017, while he was arranging to compete as Minkin Township Pyithu Hluttaw MP of Sagaing Region. 

            Ex-irector-general of the Build[1]ing Department U Nay Aung Ye Myint also constructed a new KyaukOh Bridge in Minkin Township spending K120 million without any permission from the capital budget. It caused losses to the State budget. U Kyaw Lin also received K3 million from the 16 Special Building Task Forces staff through ex-director-general U Ye Min Zaw of the Building Department to construct NLD District Office in July 2020 when he served as Deputy Minister for Construction. When he arranged to compete as Minkin Township Pyithu Hluttaw MP of Sagaing Region, he paid a visit to the monasteries in Minkin Town[1]ship and donated cash and rice bags, and he accepted 68 rice bags from the ministry staff without paying the costs. He got more than K36.3 million cash donations for the election campaign from his personal assistant, construc[1]tion employees and companies and used it to buy party flags, shirts, caps and pamphlets. He received K60 million from two construction companies via his personal assistant. So he was charged under the Anti-Cor[1]ruption Law Section 55 while ex-directors-general U Aung Myint Oo, U Ye Min Zaw and U Nay Aung Ye Myint under An[1]ti-Corruption Law Section 55/63 at Mandalay Region High Court on 14 December 2021. The High Court accepted 10 cases from 26/2021 to 35/2021. The court sentenced ex-construction dep[1]uty minister U Kyaw Lin to 20 years in prison under Section 55 of Anti-Corruption Law, while the former director-general U Aung Myint Oo to 4 years in pris[1]on with labour under Section 55/63 of Anti-Corruption Law, ex-directors-general U Ye Min Zaw and U Nay Aung Ye Myint to two years each in prisons with labour under Section 55/63 of Anti-Corruption Law.
