Workshop for Drafting the Whistleblower Protection Law

The Workshop for Drafting the Whistleblower Protection Law took place this morning at the Grand Amara Hotel at 09:30. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Secretary, and the Commissioners, as well as representatives from UNODC and UNDP, and delegates from 31 ministries and organizations. During the ceremony, the Commission Chairman delivered an opening speech, and Ms. Marie Pegie Cauchois from UNODC extended a warm welcome to the workshop attendees and provided clarification on the provisions of Article 33 of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
During his opening remarks, the chairman of the commission emphasized the necessity of a law to protect whistleblowers. He urged the relevant ministries to carefully examine and discuss the draft law in accordance with Article 33 of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), Strategic Process 1.4.5 of the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP) (2018-2030), and the Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan (2018-2021).
Subsequently, the workshop commenced, with the secretary of the commission providing a detailed explanation of each clause in the draft law. The participants engaged in discussions concerning these clauses, and the ceremony concluded successfully at 17:00.
