The awareness session on anti-corruption was held on July 17, 2018, at 13:00 in Office No. 27, Yadana Hall of the Ministry of Electric and Energy.
The Union Minister for MOEE, U Win Khaing, Deputy Minister Dr. Htun Naing, Commissioner U Han Nyunt, Permanent Secretary of MOEE U Tin Maung Oo, heads of departments and organizations, Directors General, Managing Directors, and staff were present.
The Union Minister expressed that during the swearing-in ceremony of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, President H.E. Mr. Win Myint emphasized the importance of fulfilling the initial needs of the public, democracy, and human rights. He stressed the need for a corruption-free environment and called for the systematic elimination of red tape and corruption in his inaugural speech.
Furthermore, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi emphasized that government members should be free from the four types of corruption. She highlighted that this principle extends beyond monetary concerns and aims to address the needs of oneself, family, and friends. As state leaders wish to eliminate corruption, government staff need to be free from corruption in order to serve the public. Corruption is a major hindrance to state development. It is important to eliminate corruption for our national prosperity. Thus, we need to learn more about corruption and call for awareness through the Commission. All participants should discuss and ask questions in a friendly manner.
Then, the commissioner, U Han Nyunt, explained the definition of corruption, its causes and consequences, the Commission’s efforts, the role of public servants, the development of a Code of Conduct for Public Servants, as well as the agendas and ways forward for anti-corruption efforts. Afterward, he answered the participants' questions.
The delegations from departments and organizations under the Ministry, totaling 250 participants, were present at this ceremony.
