The opening ceremony for the Focus Group Discussion on the Investigation Manual, organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission, was held on March 22, 2018, at 09:30 in the morning at Thinkaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was attended by U Aung Kyi, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, along with other members of the Commission. Additionally, officials from the Commission Office and Mr. Rhghavan Kuppuswamy, an expert from UNODC, were also in attendance.

At the ceremony, the Chairman of the Commission expressed that the mission of the Anti-Corruption Commission is to prevent and combat corruption throughout Myanmar. In addition to conducting investigations, the Commission will also implement preventive measures across the country. The Commission recognizes the importance of accountability and transparency in its operations, aligning with ethical standards. Developing Investigation Manual is a crucial responsibility for the Commission to fulfill its duties diligently. To ensure effectiveness, the development of Investigation Manual in Myanmar requires strict adherence to both domestic laws and international standards. Furthermore, it is essential to practice and implement the developed procedures successfully. The draft of the Investigation Manual has been in progress since December, 2017, and is currently in the final negotiation stage. The Chairman expressed that it will be released soon after the conclusion of the workshop. In addition to the Investigation Manual, the Commission is also drafting a Code of Conduct for its members and staff. Adherence to these ethical rules and procedures is vital for the Commission to maintain its reputable standing. The Chairman emphasized the need to build a fully responsible and accountable organization. The workshop successfully concluded at 17:30.
