The seminar on promoting awareness of international best practices in Asset Recovery was conducted by the Attorney General’s Office at the Horizon Lake View Hotel, on April 5, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. A delegation of 5 members, led by Director U Tun Tun Win from the Anti-Corruption Commission Office, attended the seminar.

Myanmar is likely to increase international finance and financial flows in the coming years. Given these advancements, it becomes imperative to ensure the legality of financial and monetary transactions. In the context of asset recovery, the seminar will delve into Switzerland's expertise in asset recovery aligned with international standards. The objective of this meeting was to acquire insights into handling property recovery matters in accordance with Myanmar’s existing domestic laws.

Participating in the Asset Recovery Seminar held by the Attorney General’s Office on April 5, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., will facilitate the review process of UNCAC implementation (second cycle) on Chapter 5 “Asset Recovery”. It will involve reviewing Nigeria’s Self-Assessment Checklist-SAC in relation to “Asset Recovery,” and will greatly contribute to the development of Myanmar’s own Self-Assessment Checklist-SAC.

Furthermore, assistance will be needed during the country-by-country review and the process of asset recovery through inter-state cooperation. There is a necessity to acquire expertise and seek expert assistance in asset recovery techniques.
