Sagaing Region Government and Anti-Corruption Commission jointly held Awareness Programme on Corruption Prevention

    Anti-Corruption Commission and Sagaing Region Government jointly held Awareness Programme on Corruption Prevention at the meeting hall of Anti-Corruption Commission Office on March 30, 2023 with virtual format.

    At the Occassaction, U Myat Kyaw, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region, said that awareness related to corruption prevention will increase by holding awareness lectures on that. In the reduction of corruption, the public funds will be able to be properly spent in areas that will benefit the state and the people. As Civil Servants, we have to be upright or integrity in carrying out public service activities transparently. Corruption is an obstacle in the implementation of development in various fields, so it is necessary to be good civil servants who are free from corruption. Clean Government and Good Governance system can only be implemented and built by civil servants who are free from corruption.

           


    After that, Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission Dr. Htay Aung addressed that corruption is the abuse of entrusted authority and applies not only to government departments but also to private businesses, and it includes from giving/taking small bribes to the conditions of damage to the state-owned money, material and property. Corruption is an abnormal behavior that includes giving/taking gifts of money, abuse of authority, using undue influence, building Patron-Client System, extorting money by threatening, being biased for the good of one’s friends, and practicing nepotism. Awareness activities are carried out in regions and states in order to cooperate with members of government and the employees of the administrative departments.

    Public awareness is a fundamental method for fighting against corruption. So, it being able to hold educational lectures is a good movement for national development. As civil servants will get awareness, ethical and moral benefits from educational lectures. He added that they should carry out their national duties honestly. As Commission, the main objective is to be of benefit as a Clean Government and Good Governance. 

    The Chief Justice of the Sagaing Region Court of Justice, Regional Ministers, Departments at the regional level; District/Township Administrative Organization’s members attended. Anti-Corruption Commission will conduct a technical course on corruption prevention on March 31 to the members of Sagaing Region Corruption Prevention Unit (CPU) through online.
