The delegation led by the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar visited Thailand to attend the High-Level Conference on Crime Prevention and Community Safety, focused on Sustainable Development on 5-3-2018. The conference was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Thailand's Department of Justice, of the United Nations Headquarters in Bangkok.

    The conference was attended by law enforcement agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, anti-corruption organizations, responsible individuals, academics, and observers. Princess Bajrakityabha Mahidol, daughter of the King of Thailand, and Mr. Yury Fedotov, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, delivered the opening remarks.

    During the first part (Part 1) of the ongoing conference program, the Chairman of the commission delivered a discussion on the challenges of law enforcement in the Southeast Asian region. The topics included drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, and illegal trade in natural resources, all of which are interconnected with corruption. These crimes undermine the rule of law, sustainable development, and the safety and security of local communities in Southeast Asia. As anti-corruption organizations in the region, it is necessary to collaborate with other relevant responsible organizations to effectively address these crimes.
