Pre-Workshop for Government Experts, Stakeholders Focal Point to participate in the review process of the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC)


    Anti-Corruption Commission jointly held Pre-Workshop in collaboration with UNODC for serving United Nations Convention Against Corruption Implementation Review at Myat Mingalar Hotel from 24-2-2015 to 26-2-2015.

    The workshop was organized by the Ministry of President's Office (5), Union Minister U Tin Naing Thein attended and gave an opening speech and Chairman of   Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar gave a welcome speech. The workshop was attended a total of (50) representatives; (12) representatives from Anti-Corruption Commission, (3) representatives led by Mr. Shervin Majlessi from UNODC, (5) representatives from non-governmental organizations, (50) representatives from Ministry and State/Regional. As a result of the workshop, the following (4) announcements were issued:

1. The Government of the Republic of Myanmar appoints focal points and government experts to review the implementation of UNCAC and review processes as much as possible to take the necessary actions for a quick implementation,

2. The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar fully participates in the procedures for reviewing the implementation of UNCAC and taking advantage of the preparation UNCAC Self-Assessment Checklist through a process involving stakeholders in order to identify gaps and necessaries etc. Drawing programs on anti-corruption at national level to improve coordination and collaboration, to raise anti-corruption discussion and to identify technical needs.

3. Under the supervision of a steering committee that can approve the final report (possibly Anti-Corruption Commission), Technical Experts Team including relevant stakeholders to  prepare Self-Assessment Checklist.

4. UNODC will continue to support the UNCAC review process in Myanmar.
