The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar attended Expert Meeting on Civil and Administrative Liability for Corruption


            U Kyaw Win Thein, the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, attended as the role of the Asia-Pacific representative at Expert Meeting on Civil and Administrative Liability for Corruption on May 2nd and 3rd to discuss matters pertaining to Civil and Administrative Liability in relation to corrupt practices.

            During the meeting, the topic of "Domestic practices and ways to enhance international cooperation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption(UNCAC)" was thoroughly examined and discussed. U Kyaw Win Thein, Commissioner presented on the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar and highlighted the importance of confiscating monies and properties obtained through corrupt practices as public assets. 

            The representatives and experts from Australia, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Colombia, Greece, Russia, Armenia, Brazil, England, Israel, and Romania deliberated on the various challenges, practical measures, experiences, and approaches involved in confiscating assets obtained through corrupt practices, gaps in the legal framework, appropriate sanctions, promote international cooperation, asset recovery, and raising awareness of corruption prevention measures in taking legal action and taking action through administrative means.

            The Anti-Corruption Commission Myanmar has been fully involved in international cooperation since it joined UNCAC as a member country, and has been actively participating as a member country by adding knowledge, experiences, and best practices to be included according to Myanmar's commitments.
